Bolaji Shenjobi has 23 years' experience in the financial services sector and was until his present appointment the General Manager/Divisional Head, North East Division of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc. He managed the Region successfully for about 3 years and grew the bank's Commercial and Retail business. He also set up and coordinated GTBank's Alternative Investments project and worked with offshore consultants in setting up the Hedge Fund used for the project.
Bolaji commenced his career with KPMG Peat Marwick Ani Ogunde & Co in August 1988 as an Audit Trainee and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in November 1992. He has handled management positions in several top banking and finance companies like Express Discount Limited, LeadBank Plc, Habib Nigeria Bank Plc, and First Bank Nigeria Plc where he was appointed Treasurer in 2006 where he set up FBN Global Custody (FirstGlobal) Department, the first of its kind by a Nigerian bank and the Bonds trading desk and pioneered land mark deals such as the issuance of the 1st and 2nd AfDB Naira Bonds. Bolaji served as a pioneer director in FBN Bureau De Change Limited.
Bolaji graduated with a bachelor's degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose University, Davenport Iowa, USA in 1988 and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). He was President of Money Market Association of Nigeria (MMAN) for 2 years between 2006 and 2008. He midwifed the transition of the MMAN to the Financial Markets Dealers Association (FMDA) in 2008/9 and served as its Governing Council Caretaker Chairman for 1 year.
